Privacy and account data
Last updated
Promptomancy is operated by Promptomancer-J. This notice explains the data used by our comic publishing platform, reading library, and creative tools.
Accounts and sign-in
You can browse public comics, guides, and tools without signing in. Account features use Firebase Authentication for Google or email-and-password sign-in. We receive your account identifier, verified email address, and an optional name. Firebase handles passwords; Promptomancy does not store them. Existing ChatGPT logins remain supported.
A secure, HTTP-only cookie identifies your signed-in session. It expires within one hour; the site renews it while your Firebase login remains active. Firebase also keeps sign-in state in browser storage so you can return without signing in again. Signing out clears the site session and Firebase sign-in state on that browser. It does not delete account data or sign you out on other devices.
Connecting an existing ChatGPT account to a Firebase login stores an explicit account connection so your comics and account records retain their owner.
Public profiles and comics
We store creator names, handles, biographies, optional pseudonyms, support links, comic details, cover images, episode details, creator notes, and uploaded pages. Upload records include filenames, image types, sizes, and page order.
Your primary creator profile displays your name, handle, and bio. Comics published under a pseudonym display that identity instead; its profile does not display your primary bio. Both profile addresses may be publicly accessible. A pseudonym does not hide your identity from site administrators or guarantee that others cannot connect your work.
Published comics, covers, pages, notes, and selected support links are public. Drafts and pending submissions are available to their owner and authorized administrators for review. Your sign-in email, connected login details, library, and individual reading history are not displayed to other readers or creators.
Your reading library
When signed in, we store the comics you follow, episodes you open, when you last opened them, and which episodes you reach the end of. This supports your library, continue-reading links, read indicators, and progress across devices.
We also store in-site notifications and whether you have read them. Following a comic enables new-episode alerts in the notification bell; unfollowing stops those alerts. Unfollowing does not erase your reading progress. Creators can see follower totals, but the creator dashboard does not list individual followers or their reading histories.
Creative tools
The NPC generator runs in your browser using authored name and characterization data. Its selections, generated characters, and text edits are not sent to an AI service or saved to your account. Refreshing or leaving the page loses that working result. Copy writes your current character text to your device’s clipboard when you request it.
Creator analytics
Our comic analytics use a random identifier held in browser-tab session storage. We record the comic or episode, overview visits, episode starts and completions, and the UTC date. Comic visit totals include both overview visits and direct episode starts, deduplicated per comic, browser-tab session and UTC day. These records do not include account identifiers, emails, IP addresses, or referrer URLs. Creators see aggregate counts. Signed-in creators viewing their own work are excluded.
This comic measurement uses no analytics cookie or third-party analytics tracker. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable it in the browser. Closing the tab normally clears its session storage; a browser’s session-restoration features may retain it. These creator statistics are separate from signed-in reading progress, Google Analytics, and advertising.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics across site pages to understand visits, page views, navigation, and engagement. Google’s tag may use analytics cookies and process browser and device information, page URLs, and referral information. This site-wide reporting is for the site operator and is separate from creator analytics.
We do not intentionally send your email, account identifier, passwords, generated characters, or text edits to Google Analytics. The initial page URL and referrer supplied by our tag omit query strings and fragments. Google Signals and advertising personalization signals are disabled in our tag configuration. Google’s additional measurement behavior and data retention depend on the Analytics property settings.
Our tag does not load when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Browser content blockers can also prevent measurement. See the Google privacy policy and Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for more information and controls.
Advertising and support links
If the administrator enables advertising, Google AdSense can load on the home page, public comic pages, and episode readers. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies for advertising, measurement, and personalization. Available consent messages and controls depend on your region and browser. Use “Ad privacy choices” beneath an ad to reopen Google’s choices when available.
Advertising code does not load while ads are disabled or on privacy, account, login, library, studio, moderation, tools, or mature-content pages. See Google’s explanation of data use on partner sites and Google’s ad controls.
Creator support links open Patreon, Ko-fi, or Buy Me a Coffee. Those services handle any payment and their own data collection under their policies. Promptomancy stores the creator’s public link and label; it does not process payments or collect your payment-card details.
Hosting and service providers
The site uses OpenAI Sites with Cloudflare infrastructure for hosting, database records, and image storage. Firebase and Google provide independent authentication; OpenAI provides the original ChatGPT sign-in. These providers process requests needed to deliver the service and may handle technical information such as IP addresses and service logs under their own policies. The absence of IP addresses from our comic analytics does not mean no provider receives them.
Read the OpenAI privacy policy, Cloudflare privacy policy, and Google privacy policy for their practices.
Retention and moderation
Administrators review submissions and reports, including the reporting account, reported comic, and reason. We record moderation decisions and relevant account changes in an audit log to operate the platform and investigate misuse.
Comic analytics cover a rolling 90-day window. Older records are deleted when new eligible activity is recorded; cleanup is not a daily scheduled job. Account records, saved NPC characters, uploads, follows, reading progress, notifications, reports, and audit history have no automatic expiry schedule. Signing out or clearing browser storage does not erase these server records.
Adult hosting and age verification are paused. The site does not currently offer an age check. Any existing verification records contain references, provider session identifiers, attempt times, status, and an expiring 18+ result. The integration does not store identity documents, selfies, birth dates, or exact ages. A verification result expires after 24 hours, while attempt records have no automatic deletion schedule. We will update this notice before enabling adult access.
Your controls and current limits
Use Your account to edit your public profile and manage available login connections. Use My library or a comic’s follow control to unfollow a comic. Creator Studio lets you manage supported comic details and page edits. The login screen provides email-password reset controls.
You can sign out on a shared device, clear this site’s browser storage, and use browser privacy signals for comic analytics. These actions do not delete your server-side account or reading history.
For privacy questions or requests to access, correct, or delete your data, email support@promptomancy.com. We may need to verify account ownership before acting on a request. Do not send passwords or identity documents by email.
You can export NPC characters as TXT or JSON and remove saved characters in Tools. Saved NPCs preserve your edits and optional Voice cues privately in your account. A draft retained for sign-in stays in the current browser tab and expires after one hour. Self-service account deletion, reading-history deletion, and full account data export are not currently available. Contact support to discuss your request.
We will revise this notice as features and data handling change. The date above identifies the latest update.
Episode comments
Signed-in readers can post public comments on published episodes. We store the comment, its author’s account identifier, a public-name snapshot, and its posting time. The public name uses your profile pseudonym when available, otherwise your display name; readers without a public profile appear as Reader. Account identifiers and emails are not included in public comment data. Comic authors receive in-site notifications of new comments on their episodes, excluding their own comments. Administrators can remove comments. Removal clears the stored comment text and retains the posting and removal records for moderation and spam prevention.
